New Member Orientation scheduled 1/25/2018

The Riverdale Heights Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. Company #13 is one of the fastest growing all volunteer Fire & EMS departments in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

The department is continuously looking for new members to join our ranks as volunteer firefighters, emergency medical technicians and administrative/support personnel.

We are also looking for experienced applicants who possess Maryland and/or Pro Board Firefighter training, Maryland and/or National Registry EMT, Emergency Vehicle Operator, Pump Operator and more for a quicker turn around process.

Minimum requirements for all members; must be sixteen (16) years of age or older, successfully pass a thorough background check and pass an extensive NFPA physical and stress test. * Administrative only applicants do not need to take the NFPA physical & stress test. *

Applicants also do not need to be a Maryland or Prince George’s County resident to join. Currently we have members from all over the state of Maryland as far away as the Salisbury/Ocean City area, members who live in Central Virginia and as far away as Massachusetts.

Our volunteer recruiter will be hosting another new member orientation this Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Orientation will include the following; history of the Riverdale Heights VFD & RS & the volunteer system of the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, application process (background check, county physical & stress test, as well as the PGFD Volunteer Recruit School), training requirements, benefits, staffing and training incentives, live-in opportunities, career advancement opportunities in public safety and much more.

Interested applicants wishing to RSVP to Thursday evenings orientation shall email our recruiter at by noon (12:00pm) Thursday afternoon. Orientation will be limited to the first 20 applicants. Location of the Fire Station is 6101 Roanoke Avenue, Riverdale, MD 20737.
