At approximately 2205 hours on Sunday, March 11, 2018, Engine 133 (E813B) along with Engine 855, Engine 809, Paramedic Engine 830, Truck 809, Truck 801, Truck 833, Ambulance 809, Battalion Chief's 884 and 881 were alerted to respond to the 4200 block of Monroe Street (Box 55-03) for the reported house on fire. First arriving units from Stations 55 and 9 arrived on the scene to find a two story single family dwelling with fire showing through the roof. The working fire dispatch was alerted immediately bringing Engine 833, Truck 838, Medic 830, Northern EMS Duty Officer, Volunteer Safety Officer, Safety 800 and Rehab 800.
Engine 133 (E813B) was alerted as the fourth due engine company on the initial alarm as the RIT (rapid intervention team). Upon arrival, Engine 133's crew, led by Chief 13B (Shinn) set up the RIT on side Alpha of the structure. While searching the residence, Truck Company 1 (Hyattsville) advised incident command that they were bringing out a victim to the outside and requested EMS on a rush. Unfortunately the patient was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. Engine 133 operated on the fire-ground for over an hour and was then released by command.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department's Fire Investigations Office.
