Acknowledgements / Assistance for Timothy Donoghue
By Fire Chief Aldo Zambrana
Monday we escorted our brother Timothy Donoghue to his resting place at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Timmy was a sincere, down to earth, would give you the shirt of his back kinda of guy. And stubborn…. oh boy, was he stubborn. We loved Timmy. I loved Timmy. He was like family to me.
This is the first (and hopefully last) funeral I had to arrange as the Chief of my Department, and I had no idea where to even start…. So I would you like to take this opportunity to thank the following for either guiding me through this whole ordeal, assisting us in one way or another, or being there for us, for Timmy.
Glenn Locker, our District Representative of the PGCVRA, Rev. Harry Hetz, Chaplain Margaret Anne Hamilton, Chaplain Elaine Huttenloch. Chief Chad Hasselberger and the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, Chief Scott Vazquez and the members of the West Lanham Hills Volunteer Fire Department, Chief Haggerty of the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, Captain Matt Verlaque and the Morningside Volunteer Fire Department. President Cunningham of the PGCVFRA, Past PGVFRA Presidents Frank Underwood and Chuck Walker. The brothers from Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department, Volunteer Services Commander DFC James McClelland, AFC Chatel and Battalion Chief Scott and the crews assigned to College Park, Landover Hills and Greenbelt from the Prince George’s County Fire & EMS Dept. Duty Chief Dimitriadis of the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service along with his crews from Companies 718 and 740. The Montgomery County Fire Pipes and Drums, The Montgomery County Police Pipes and Drums, Lt. Colonel Kiker (retired) Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Marty Newman, Cindy Daymont and all of our neighbors that have supported us through this, and were there to see Timmy go down Roanoke avenue one last time.
There are not enough words to fully express our heartfelt thanks for the sympathy and support you have extended the Riverdale Heights VFD and Donoghue family.
THANK YOU!
A. Zambrana
